Guess the movies!
I just stole this from a writer on Livejournal called Nakedfotolady. (I’d put a link to her blog but it wouldn’t be easy because I accessed it through a proxy.) Basically, you go to the IMDB and look up ten movies you really like, then choose three of the keywords. You provide the keywords, and people try to guess the movies. Here goes:
1. Epic, idiot, power struggle
2. Mutant, manga, self-sacrifice
3. Icelandic, bizarre, epidemic
4. Disturbing, tragic ending, Los Angeles storm drains
5. Photo montage, post-apocalyptic, amnesia
6. Color, defecation, cannibalism
7. (Nothing!)
8. (Nothing!)
9. Male bonding, assassination, blindness
And to make up for the impossible-to-guess numbers seven and eight (the answers would be FANTASTIPO and FIGHTING TO SURVIVE), here’s an easier one:
10. Pollution, disco, giant monster
Anybody want to guess? I’ll provide hints if asked.

Hmmmm. Not that I recall. But there was a fight scene involving a toilet….

This is a difficult, but intriguing game.
I even went to imdb to look up some keywords, but it’s still not easy.

Josh has number six right!
Although all the clues are right for number four (as I remember, anyway), it’s actually a different, less-respected movie.
Here are hints for the other movies:
1. In black & white, AND color!
2. I tried to force many friends to watch this.
3. Not set in Iceland. Involves bagpipes. I wrote the director his first fan letter, which he answere, saying he was a lonely man and lived in a basement.
4. Had a SCARY TV commercial! Gave birth to (hint!) two sequels, one of which had Michael Moriarity inexplicably singing “Over the Sea to Skye.”
5. Only about 20 minutes long, unsuspected ending.
6. Guessed!
7. FANTASTIPO
8. FIGHTING TO SURVIVE
9. In this movie, a guy’s arm is shot off, but then is magically on again in the next scene. One part of the film takes part in the “Scared Heart” hospital.
10. Save the Earth!

#10 is “Gojira tai Hedorâ” a.k.a. Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster (1971)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#10 — Correct! Congratulations! My favorite Godzilla movie ever! The director only ever made one, and was cursed out by the originator of the Godzilla movies (as I remember the story), who said he had “ruined” the series. I love the disco scene!
