Wormy adventure.

The other day at brunch, a couple of the white people there were talking about de-wormers.  One woman was saying she always brings some back from the US to give her friends, and another woman who had taken them was raving about how good she felt after taking them.  She was saying the kids in the kindergarten where she works are dosed with them every six months.  She said that her symptoms, which disappeared after she took the medicine, included having her stomach swell up really big after she ate.

Well, I’ve always been interested in taking a de-wormer.  There have been plenty of times where I’ve gotten sick, and later wondered if anything was growing in there, for instance after the time I got sick in Lijian.  On the other hand, I’ve been told that the gut is its own little ecosystem, and it’s best not to screw with it if nothing seems seriously wrong.  Complicating things are the scary, contradictory documentaries I’ve seen, saying that parasites will make you really sick, and that you are more likely to get diseases like Krone’s disease and MS if you don’t have parasites.

Anyway, I decided to try them.  I got a pack today, talked to Chinese friends who have taken them, talked to the pharmacist, etc.  I’m going to take them this weekend and see what happens!  I’m scared, but then again, I love disgusting things!
