Is this a common problem?

I picked up this free Japanese newspaper in a supermarket in Gubei district today.¬† It had a little “learn to speak Chinese” section.¬† It contained one sentence, in Chinese, Japanese, and in a phonetic transliteration.¬† It was: You must let me get on the plane, because I am the pilot.

Is there a problem with this in Shanghai?¬† Would a Japanese airline pilot really have to say that?¬† Would Chinese airport personnel look at the pilot and think, “No, he’s not the pilot.¬† He’s just one of those Japanese people who like to dress up in funny outfits”?

hold him until past the scheduled flight time, and see whether a bulky plane remains unmoved on the tarmac, disrupting everything. If it’s the case,we then can safely say he might be the pilot he purported himself to be and let him pass..
